Pup Traffic

Set up

• Cone out a safe square big enough for everyone to move without touching.
• Children start spread inside the square.
• Coach stands on an edge where every child can hear the call.

How to play

1. Call GO — children move around the area.
2. Call SLOW — movement slows right down.
3. Call STOP / PAWS — freeze under control.
4. Call TURN — change direction.
5. Call ROUNDABOUT — turn once under control, then continue.
6. Vary the travelling movement: walk, jog, skip, side-step.

Coach cues

• “Eyes up!”
• “Find the space!”
• “Stop under control!”

Early Years 3–5

Use only 2–3 commands to begin with and demonstrate every one before you use it.

KS1 5–7

Add direction changes, reaction challenges, ball carries and evasive footwork.

Safety

• No uncontrolled sprinting.
• Eyes up at all times.
• Maintain space between pups.
