Shape Makers

Set up

• Children spread out with room to lie down or stretch wide.
• For KS1, mark 5–6 small group areas with cones.
• Coach stands where every group can hear the call.

How to play

1. Coach calls a shape or number: circle, triangle, straight line, square, number 2, number 3.
2. Individuals or small groups create it with their bodies or their positioning.
3. Younger children make simple body shapes on their own.
4. Older children make group shapes together.
5. Coach walks round, names good ideas, then calls the next shape.

Coach cues

• “Make the shape!”
• “Work together!”
• “Can everyone help?”

Early Years 3–5

Individual shapes only — tall, small, wide, curled.

KS1 5–7

Pairs and small groups create more complex shapes and numbers together.

Safety

• No climbing on other children.
• Keep all movements controlled.
