RUGGER PUPSDetailed Coach SheetTreasure Under Cones
Games / Exploration & teamwork
Set up
- Scatter many cones across the playing area — more cones than children.
- Hide tags or small safe markers under selected cones before the children arrive.
- Mark several home bases around the edge, one per Pack.
How to play
- Children explore the area looking for treasure.
- They lift cones safely to see underneath — cones are placed back down, never thrown.
- Children collect one item at a time.
- They carry the treasure back to their Pack's home base.
- Continue until the treasure is found, then count each base.
- Rugby progression: gently move or roll a ball to a cone before checking underneath.
Coach cues
- “Find the treasure!”
- “One at a time!”
- “Take it home!”
- “Eyes up!”
Early Years 3–5

KS1 5–7
Add rugby ball handling on the way home, or a team target to reach.
Safety
- Do not throw cones.
- No hard kicking of the ball.
- Watch for children bending down while others are running — call eyes up often.
