How to play
Run the activity
- 1Tell the children where the adventure is going.
- 2Ask them HOW we should travel there.
- 3Let children suggest the transport — aeroplane, train, boat, running, hopping.
- 4Everyone copies the chosen movement.
- 5Arrive at the destination.
- 6Ask what animals or things they can see.
- 7Children copy those movements — monkeys, elephants, snakes, lions.
- 8Continue through several short adventure moments, then call PAWS/READY.
Coach language
Say it like this
- “Show me how we travel!”
- “What can you see?”
- “Find your own safe space.”
Stage
Early Years / KS1
This activity is suitable for ages 3–7. Choose a stage to see the coaching guidance for that group.
Allow lots of imagination and child-led ideas. Use large exaggerated movements and keep instructions extremely short.
Scale it
30 pups
- Spread children across a large area.
- Coach stays central and uses big demonstrations.
- Teacher or assistant mirrors the movements from the opposite side.
Safety
Stay safe and strong
- Children keep their eyes up.
- Maintain personal space.
- Avoid uncontrolled sprinting.
Adapt it
Make it easier / Level it up
Make it easier: Coach chooses all the movements and children simply copy.
Level it up: Children take turns choosing the next movement or animal.
